Matthieu Ducharme joins AXA IM Prime as Head of Private Equity Secondaries

AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has today announced the appointment of Matthieu Ducharme as Head of Private Equity Secondaries at AXA IM Prime, the Private Markets Enabler and Hedge Funds platform of AXA IM. Based in London, he starts with immediate effect and reports to Peter Ischebeck, Head of Private Equity at AXA IM Prime.

In this newly created role, Matthieu Ducharme is responsible for all aspects of AXA IM Prime’s private equity secondaries strategy, overseeing the sourcing and execution of transactions, as well as the development of secondary products.

Matthieu Ducharme’s appointment builds on AXA IM Prime’s ongoing expansion in private markets with a number of new products launched in recent months and a fast-growing team since its establishment last year. AXA IM Prime currently holds €34 billion of assets under management1  and embraces a diverse range of private market strategies across private equity, infrastructure equity, private debt and hedge funds.

Biography

Matthieu Ducharme

Prior to joining AXA IM Prime, Matthieu Ducharme was a Managing Director at Northleaf Capital, a global private markets investment firm with $23 billion in capital commitments raised. During his 10-year tenure at Northleaf, Matthieu was instrumental in the launch and expansion of the firm’s private equity secondaries program. In addition to developing a strong track record across all types of secondary transactions globally, Matthieu also expanded Northleaf’s primary and co-investment activities in Europe. Altogether, he contributed to the deployment of over $2 billion across 80 investments. Matthieu also chaired the firm’s Private Equity ESG Committee, leading on a number of initiatives to meet the best industry standards. 

Previously, Matthieu co-founded PEFOX, a private equity secondaries intermediary, originally focused on complex secondary transactions and private equity derivatives.

Matthieu started his career with Pantheon Ventures’ secondaries team in London where he was responsible for the sourcing, evaluation and negotiation of portfolio, fund and direct secondary transactions across Europe, the US and Asia.

Matthieu received an M.Sc. in Financial Engineering from the Sorbonne University and a B.Sc. in Management Science & Finance from Dauphine University in Paris.
