Role: European Head of Transactions
Business area: Real Assets
How did you come to work at AXA - IM Real Assets?
I initially joined thanks to an internship opportunity offered by my Business School. I worked for a few months as a financial analyst in what was then "AXA Immobilier". I left to do my military service in a consulting firm but after a couple of years, I was offered the opportunity to return.
I joined AXA IM's Corporate Finance team back in 2001. It was truly an exciting time to be part of the team because we were then developing our international ambitions and third party fund management. I also witnessed the financialisation of Real Estate and saw the sector becoming much younger and dynamic.
In 2006 I was asked to create the UK Corporate Finance team and I spent 4 years in London before becoming Global Head of Corporate Finance in 2010.
Although I really appreciated my time working on the structuration of complex deals, after 12 years in corporate finance I wanted to have a more "physical approach" of real estate. This is how I was offered the opportunity in 2013 to lead the European Transactions department. It was a big change but my finance background and the experience and real estate culture I acquired from my years working on deals and attending investment committees helped.
How would you describe your role?
I now manage teams located in 10 offices in Europe which oversees the sourcing and execution of acquisition and sales operations. I thoroughly enjoy the market and international aspects of my job as well as the networking opportunities it offers. Working on different markets with international teams allows you to keep learning every day. This is a job where strong convictions, analytical skills and the ability to build relationships are the keys to success.
Why would you recommend your job?
After almost 15 years working for AXA IM, I can honestly say that this is a company where you won't have the time to get bored and which offers many opportunities and allows you to grow.
