Role: Portfolio Manager
Business Area: Fixed Income
Nationalities: French and Portuguese
How did you come to work at AXA IM?
I have a Master's Degree in IT Engineering from Telecome SudParis (France) and a certificate in Finance from the University of California, Riverside (USA). I also completed a Masters in Diplomacy and International Strategy at the London School of Economics in 2013. I joined AXA IM in July 2006 as a VIE within the IT Change Management team, providing technical support to our Requests for Proposals team and the Product Specialist unit.
Nine months later I joined the UK Fixed Income Product Specialists team as Sales Support, promoting our fixed income proposition to the UK institutional market and ensuring that our products met investors' needs. In January 2008, I was appointed UK Fixed Income Product Manager, working closely with the UK Fixed Income Product Specialist and the UK Fixed Income team on a range of new and existing products for current and potential clients. In June 2010, I was appointed to my present role.
What do you currently do?
I am part of the Sterling Credit team, responsible for managing several retail and pension funds, and insurance assets. As such, I actively participate in the process of formulating strategies, as we follow a team-based approach, that will be implemented across all our portfolios. I'm also responsible for the coverage of the European Insurance sector within our credit research organisation.
As one of the Portfolio Managers in the Sterling Credit Team, I regularly meet with existing and prospective clients (IFAs, private wealth managers…), speak at conferences and have interviews with journalists to give views on the market. The management of pension funds involves regular interaction with investment consultants and trustees whilst managing insurance assets require a good knowledge of insurance regulations such as Solvency II.
What do you like most about working at AXA IM?
AXA IM is a great company to work for as it genuinely provides the support you need in order to develop yourself not only professionally but also personally. I appreciate the sponsorship which AXA IM provided to achieve the IMC and CFA certifications, as well as time to study for my recent Masters degree. As highlighted by the different roles I've had so far, AXA IM strongly promotes career mobility and as such it is quite common for an employee to change department or country.
